2021-01-01 2025-10-15 Environmental awareness and willingness to pay for biodiversity improvement in Puerto Rico This study investigates households’ willingness to pay for a native plant and tree nursery in the Rio Hondo Community Forest of Puerto Rico. Using contingent valuation data and multiple logit models, it evaluates both economic support for biodiversity and the role of environmental awareness in shaping preferences. 2021-2025 This dataset contains the contingent valuation data and sociodemographic information of respondents. The data were obtained through face-to-face interviews using Sawtooth Software. The objectives of this study are to (1) assess households’ willingness to pay (WTP) for native plant and tree nursery in the Rio Hondo Community Forest (RHCF) of Puerto Rico, with the specific goal of supporting biodiversity and (2) examine the influence of environmental awareness on preferences for biodiversity improvement. Multiple logit models were used for the empirical analysis. 2019-01-01 2023-12-30 Consumers’ preference for differentiated coffees in Puerto Rico: An assessment of texts, logos and quick response (QR) codes This study analyzes consumers’ preferences for texts, logos, and QR codes on coffee packaging in Puerto Rico. Using questionnaire data and ordered logit models, it finds that texts and logos are generally preferred over QR codes, with age and education influencing these choices. While information format affected decisions slightly, overall consumer preferences for coffee remained stable. 2019-2023 This dataset contains the data on consumers' preferences for text, logo and qr code, and sociodemographic information of respondents. The data were obtained through face-to-face interviews. We designed texts, logos, and quick response (QR) codes (TLQRC) to visually present differentiated characteristics of coffee to consumers. The objectives of this study were to: (1) use questionnaire data to verify if the overall design of the coffee bags is attractive to consumers, and (2) evaluate whether the specific information presented as text, logo, or QR code affects decision-making. The results of an ordered logit model indicate that consumers prefer texts and logos on coffee packages over QR codes. Additionally, age and education influence TLQRC preferences. Although specific information presented as text, logo, or QR code slightly modified consumers' preferences for coffee to some extent, overall preferences remained unchanged. 2019-01-01 2023-12-31 Preferencias de los consumidores por leche producida en cumplimiento con bienestar animal en Puerto Rico: Evaluando alternativas para informar al consumidor This study investigates consumer preferences for milk produced under animal welfare certification and for different labeling formats on milk containers. Logit regression results show that younger, more educated, female respondents with fewer dependents—and those generally interested in differentiated products—are more likely to value animal welfare certification. Multinomial logit analysis further indicates that consumers prefer text and logo labels over QR codes. 2019-2023 This study uses a logit regression to identify the determinants that affect preferences for milk produced in compliance with animal welfare. In addition, the study uses a multinomial logit model to examine preferences for text, logo and quick response code on the milk container. The results of the logit regression reveal that interviewees who are younger, more educated, female and have fewer dependents have a greater interest in certified milk in compliance with animal welfare. In addition, people who are usually interested in differentiated products have a greater interest in milk produced under animal welfare certification. The results of the multinomial logit model indicate that the participants prefer text and logo over the quick response code.
